G & L Kiloton Olympic White
G&L’s Kiloton is what Leo Fender believed was the most comfortable bass he ever designed. And that’s saying something from the luthier that started it all.
They’ve packed the Kiloton with all the features you’d expect of a classic instrument, plus the added innovations of one of the best guitar makers in history.
Hardware
The Tribute line of basses house great features usually found on G&L’s Californian-made series. It’s equipped with their Saddle-Lock bridge design transferring more resonance into the body for a greater playing experience.
While 21 medium-jumbo nickel frets deliver high-end smoothness for great playability. On the headstock you have stylish vintage open back tuning heads, one of the many design decisions that have made this bass such a smash hit.
Sound
G&L-designed Magnetic Field Design humbucker pickup provides a huge tone worthy of its name. It fires without the aid of a preamp so expect some real grit.
Simple tone and volume knobs and a three-way pickup selector controls the diversity in sound. The MFD are known for a wide array of textures, so the controls are designed with scope in mind.
Body and neck
The Kiloton sports a rounded Basswood body in a classy gloss finish. The smooth satin neck is made of a crisp, bright hard-rock Maple, with a medium C shape for something meaty to hold onto. It’s topped with a beautifully dark Brazilian Cherry fretboard.
